The Master's Hand

Wishing to encourage her young son's progress on the piano, a mother took the small boy to a Paderewski concert.  After they were seated, the mother spotted a friend in the audience and walked down the aisle to greet her.  Seizing the opportunity to explore the wonders of the concert hall, the little boy rose and eventually explored his way through a door marked "NO ADMITTANCE."

When the house lights dimmed and the concert was about to begin, the mother returned to her seat and discovered that her son was missing.  Suddenly, the curtains parted and spotlights focused on the impressive Steinway on stage.  In horror, the mother saw her little boy sitting at the keyboard, innocently picking out "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star."  At that moment, the great piano master made his entrance, quickly moved to the piano, and whispered in the boy's ear, "Don't quit, keep playing."

Then leaning over, Paderewski reached down with his left hand and began filling in a bass part.  Soon his right arm reached around to the other side of the child and he added a running obligatio.  Together, the old master and the young novice transformed a frightening situation into a wonderfully creative experience.  The audience was mesmerized.

That's the way it is with God.   What we can accomplish on our own is hardly noteworthy.  We try our best, but the results aren't exactly graceful flowing music.  But with the hand of the Master, our life's work truly can be beautiful.  Next time you set out to accomplish great feats, listen carefully.  You can hear the voice of the Master, whispering in your ear, "Don't quit, keep playing."  Feel His loving arms around you.  Know that His strong hands are playing the concerto of your life.  Remember, God doesn't call the equipped, He equips the called.

Happy Bithday? - One more year? - One year less?

Today is my Birthday

Today is my birthday, weird date... i had been away from my home in my birthdays but never away from my home and all allone by myself, but anyway, it gives me a lot of time to think about my life.

And thinking comes to my mind these thoughts,

Is the Birthday date a date of party or a day for deep thinking?

Is the Birthday date what tells you that you have one more year? or it is telling you that you have one year left in this earth?

And maybe because i am alone today the options that my mind have been taking are that is a day for deep thinking, so lets consider the secund thought.

One year more? One year less?

I dont't think that is a year more, i believe that is on year less in this planet, because you won't have that year again, you won't have that age again, those minutes, those hours, those days, weeks, months, they are ALL GONE.

So, thinking in this way some questions start coming to my mind,

Did you do all that you could do in the last 12 months?

Is the tendency of your life the last twelve months glorifying God?

Did you waste time wacthing television? Reading bad books? Staying on bed until late in the morning?

How many lives did you influence? was it in a good or in a bad way?

What would you erase if you could from those 12 months?

What does it shows the tendency of your life the last twelve months that is more important to you?

After analizing all of this the meaning of the Birthday date change a lot.

What about the year new period coming?

Now after thinking about the year that is gone, i see that i have a new twelve months period in front of me, and a lot of questions appear in my mind again.

What goals do i have for this new twelve months period? What new goals should i set up?

What people should i stay close with? What people should i get away from?

How can my day by day glorify my creator?

What am i going to read in this new period?

Is it going to be like the last? Best? Worst?

How will it look the dendency on this new period after twelve months from now?

My decition

My decition in this new period is to glorify God with every breath of mi life, whatever i will do i want to do it for him and not for somebody else, i know that is hard, but i know that Jesus will help me.

My prayer today is that you all can take a decition for ethernal life, that the tendency of your life can always glorify God, there is nothing as good as live a life to glorify his name, to vidicate his name, telling to the whole universe that my GOD is worthy af all worship, praise, honor and glory.

God Bless You All!

George.

Waiting in God

Right now i am stock in miami, fl, something that i really don't enjoy, i don't like bid cities, and i don't hope that i am going to get to like them someday, i hope not.

I am stock here because i am waiting for all my paperwork to be done, i am waiting dor some papers to get to me and then after that i will send them to the Migration Office, the other bad thing is that they say that they can take even 2 and a half months to have my answer done, that is a bad thing because if they check the start date of the school that i am going to attend that date is in less than a month, so i also ask the school for a paper that says that they will accept me even after the beggining date.

So i ask you all to pray because i want to get out of miami as soon as i can, and also for all the paperwork to be done as soon is possible.

But there is also a good thing about been in Miami and is that i am in my aunt's house and she and her husband have been really good with me, but still, i don't like big cities, i just want the classes to start quick.

This is what i am up to right now. i will keep you all update.

God Bless you.

Familia Feliz

Familia Feliz is an Orphanage where i did work as a Volunteer Missionary and i consider it as my home.

Introduction By Melissa Harding.

Familia Feliz is a fairly new project which was begun in August of 2005 with 5 children. The property consists of 250 acres in the jungle and is located about 10 miles south of the town of Rurrenabaque, Bolivia, which is at the edge of the Madidi National Park. Construction was begun on the property in June of 2006, and is still in progress. We currently have running water, some solar power, and several buildings that are almost finished. We have a beautiful view of the jungle and mountains. Our goal at Familia Feliz is to provide a Christ-centered, safe, and loving home environment, a Christian education, and medical/dental care for children who are orphaned, abandoned, abused, neglected, unwanted, or impoverished. Children are placed in family groups of 6-8 children with one or two house parents to care for them.

How God made me be the first?

Well you all know that i am colombian and you also have heard about all the violence and everything that the news always say about Colombia, and the must of that is not even true, but when a Colombian is getting into USA the migration police get really picky with you.

This was what happen

I was traveling from the very center of Mexico, San Luis Potosi city, to San Antonio, Texas, all the way bussing, is about 16 hours, i did this because i did want to get to Miami to start my paperwork for the student visa and the cheaper way was going to San Antonio and then buying a Airplane ticket, if i would it go from Mexico to Miami direct i would spend around $300 USD, so i didn't want that.

Anyway, i start my travel a Saturday night, and my flym would levae from San Antonio a Monday morning, at sunday erly in the morning i was at the border, ready to cross and then the buss driver said, "okay, everybody that need to get a permiss to get into Unitet States please go and do it, i will wait one hour and then if you dont get here you will lose this bus and you will need to take another one". So i went down, i had two colombian passports an old one that i just use because my USA Visa is in there and a new one, the old one is really bad, the pages are falling down and everything, so add to that that i am Colombian, as soon as the Migration Officer saw my nationality and my two passports he said, "Hurry up, you are coming with me" so i went, and there was a line to go and get your bags check at the x-rays, but because this Officer was in a hurry with me he just took me to the front and told me, "Just put your bag and hurry up", so i did, then we went to an office where there is some windows where there are the migration officers that stamp your passport, and there was a huge line there, so i was going to the line and the officer said again "you are going with me, come" so he took me to the very front, i got into that office and i had 2 migration officers attending my case, nobodyelse was allow to got in from the line until i was to be done, so they were all waiting, because i knew that i had nothing to be afraid of, i was really happy because i didnt make the line. So, like after 15 minutes of questions i was the first one out of the Migration Office and the only one that got the bus to keep going to San Antonio, TX.

Before San Antonio i did need to go to Laredo, TX, and change busses, so i had one hour more to get into the other buss, but in all that time none of the passenger that were in the buss that were left behind shows up, so they ll lost their buss, so i really thanks God that he always care about us and like Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose".

So i just have to say that God is so Good in my life, i will keep telling you all about the lots of ways how God have always help me.

God Bless You.

George.

You can help me to become a better prepare Missionary. God Bless You

-------------- DONATE --------------

I was working as a Volunteer Missionary for over a year in an orphanage call Familia Feliz at the Jungle of Bolivia, while that time i didn't receive money because i was working as a Volunteer and my family is BankRupt right now, so i am trying to become a more prepare missionary to help more, and i am involve in a Aviation Course, Mechanic Aviation, at SMAT(School Of Missionary Aviation Technologic)The course is really expensive and i need to pay over a thousand dollar per month in tuition plus Living expenses, God have been opening doors all the time and supplying, he already brouth me to the middle of the red see and i know that he will take me to the other side.

You should be thinking that i should get a work here in the States and pay the course, or at list some, well that is really easy to say and hard to do, i have classes from 7:00 AM to 3:30 AM plus i have to study for the tests and make homework, this is a course that normally is to be take in 2 years and a half, so this is an intensive 1 year course and also cheaper than all the others, also i am a foreign and i am just allow to Study, if migration cath me working i will lose my migration status, i wont be able to study anymore and i will be ask to leave the United States.

God have thousands of way to provide, He has always provide for me, but is your choice if you want to be one of those ways. Im sure that he will bless you much more than what you expect.

God's Provision.

One of the things that you learn most when you are in the mission field is that God will always provide. This year I have come to understand this more. I arrived here with four other Colombians, and from the beginning I saw how God was providing not only money, but also food, a place to stay, exciting events, etc.

When you put your life in God's hands it is as if you are riding one of those two-seater bikes. It doesn't matter what the rider in the back does as long as he pedals, because the rider in the front is the one who directs the bike. It is the same in your life when you surrender it to Jesus. You get off the front seat and sit on the back seat, giving Him the direction. Jesus will say to you, “Pedal”, for you can do nothing else. Just pedal. It doesn't matter if you want to go right. If He wants you to go right, then that's the direction you will go. The exciting thing about this is that everything is always an adventure, because you never know where He will take you. You just keep pedaling, and little by little you discover wonderful new paths. He's in charge of the bikes maintenance and of making the necessary stops to rest and eat. All you have to do is pedal. That is how I've learned to live here.

One of the most difficult things I've had to learn is to depend on Him economically. But I have seen that He never abandons us, not even in the least bit. In order for you to understand this part you need to know that one US dollar equals 7 bolivianos (7Bs). It also helps to know that this year I stayed at Familia Feliz (the orphanage where I am a volunteer missionary) with two other friends from Colombia and all the money that was sent we divided among the three of us!

Well, little by little we have been using up the last bit of money we had. Then we realized that we didn't even have $10 left. When there was less than $4 left God provided a little more. So that's how we continued until again we ran out of money, and God brought some more. About three weeks later we said, “Well guys, it looks like after this week we won't be able to go to town. Why go if we don't have money for Internet?” So we went to town that week, and somehow the next week we had exactly enough money for the following week, and that's how it continued. Today, the money was supposed to run out again, but in the middle of the week I remembered that last year I had bought a small generator that no one has been using. So we found it where I had left it, in need of some repair, and we brought it to the town where we hoped to sell it. We took it with us into a workshop, and one of the customers that was there immediately bought it from us for $100. It is not much money. But the amazing thing is that God keeps providing little by little. He doesn't give us more than we need, but we have never, even in the least, lacked anything. I am so thankful to God for His infinite mercy!

The truth is not an easy lesson to learn, but it is something that we will all have to learn. It is better to learn now to depend completely on God, because when the last days come, who is going to support you? Do you think faith will come to you all of the sudden? When you are in Heaven, who will sustain you? It's hard to learn. If you ask God to help you to depend totally on Him, what you are really asking for is that God leave you without money, without food, without a house, so that you will have no other option but to ask Him, implore Him that He provide for you. It is when you see that there are no more options that you realize that God can take care of you like He takes care of the birds of the air and the flowers of the field.

I hope that all brothers in the faith can one day learn to depend on God. I know I haven't learned completely yet, but I know that God will send trials so that I can learn to trust more in Him, and through the trials I will be more valuable than gold.

God bless you all!

After two hard weeks..

A lot of people think that been in the mission field is always been in a heavenly peace. Well let me tell you that the only way to think that is been a person that have never been in the mission field.

In the mission field you are living day by day with people tat you had never live with, and there is always thinks that make hard to get alone with people in sometimes. Well these last two weeks were like that,  for me was very hard to be here, but thanks Jesus that he gave us the victory in his name and everything is okay again.  Another think is that 3 missionaries leave the same day, that leave us the ones who stay with sadness because we will miss then and with more work :p.

One of the harder things that I have seen since I am a missionary is that you are in the mission field and then the people that you know in the mission field become not just friends but family, and when they leave is so hard, because you stay and there is always people coming and leaving, writing this things I remember people like Steve, Wendy, Joni, Chandler, Amy, Nina, Corina, Jennifer, Grant, Connor, Daniel, Ricardo, Lolly, Judith… Excellent people, excellent missionaries, some of them aren’t here because they went to other mission field, other ones because they went to study and other ones just because they had enough of mission life.

This is even harder for the kids because they get to love and trust people and then they leave..

Anyway… the good thing is that you learn that Jesus is the  only one that always will be there, the other day one of the little girls told me.. “You know teacher.. is sad that the missionaries come and never call or anything but we at least have our Heavenly Father that always will be there, that will never leave us”. And at least that make me happy that the kids are learning to leave their hopes and the most of their trust in Jesus.

Everything is going well know, we are praying a lot for unity and for have a real “Happy Family”, so we are trying to have Sundays like a family day, this last Sunday we went to some waterfalls in the town. We had lots of fun.. was really good and that make us feel more like a family and not just like an institute, ohh and we are helping our neighbors a lot now, we start with a few helping them to harvest their rice and know there is lots of people that come and ask for help, this week we will be harvesting rice all week, and Thursday we will start harvesting our own rice, so that is going to be like a god training for our rice too.

Kids are learning that helping others is joyfully,  I pray for all of you brothers and sisters and I hope that one day you decide to come to mission field and that you can get the lots of blessings that are waiting for you, im sure that God want each one of his child to be a Volunteer Missionary, is like after you live like this is hard not to think that, you have to live it to know what I am talking about.

Oh, by the way, I hope soon the English in this blog will be better because a sister is going to volunteer translating my writings in Spanish to English and that will be a lot easier for me, and a lot better for you that will be able to read this with a best English and better words.

Thanks for all your prayers..
God Bless you all!!!=)

domingo, 8 de marzo de 2009

Well hello this is my first update in English.

This week have been good, I was thinking and thinking in make this blog in English but it was always so you know, is like my first language is Spanish, I did learn the must of the English that I know here in Bolivia, so is kind of a big effort to be writing in English, anyway, let start this from the beginning, this is my second year working as a Volunteer Missionary, here in Familia Feliz, I am teaching and been kind of the house parent of 4 kids, they are Armando with 4, Clever with 6, Alex with 7, Juan Carlos with 12 and soon Carlos Alfredo with 12 years.

I will like to say that is an easy job, but is not, is like to do this job properly I have to do a lot of things that I have never do before, like take a little kid to the shower and teach him one and again how to pee, how to shower.. have worship with them every day,  listen the day by day “George he did something wrong and I didn’t so punish him” and try to explain them that is not the right way to do the things.. anyway… but is amazing to do it.. you should saw me last year that was a mess, a complete chaos, but day by day I have been learning a lot, the first thing I have learn which I know I cannot do this work without it is to be holding God’s  hand every moment because when I stop doing that I lost my patience very easy with them, and they  are little kids so I have to be careful. Even if is a hard Job I love it  because is one of the ways how you can get closer to the kids, if you do it properly they fill love you a lot and with a lot of work soon will be easier and always is a lot of  fun with them.

In the mornings I work as a teacher in the primary school, 3th and 4th grade are with me, 6 kids, they are Adalid, Benjamin, Claudia, Lucila, Genesis and Damaris… oohh I have a lot of fun with them every day, is so funny and enjoyable the must of the time, but men this kids haven`t learn how to think yet, so when I try to make them think, problems begins, they start crying and telling me that I am so mean, by the way, I was horrible with my teachers when I was in the school, well with the last year and this one I already more that pay every little think that I did.. :p. Another thing, I always said that the last thing that I was going to do in my life was going to teach, but look at me now, how I say know.. Life with God is like a two sits bicycle where you are in the back and you can just pedal, it does’t matters where do you want it to go, Jesus is in Front and he will take you wherever he wants.

Preparing classes is one of the harder things I have do, I have to confess every time that I have to prepare classes I am like NOOOOOOOOOO… WHY!!! Jajaja but I have to do it anyway… please pray for my kids, they need to learn, please pray that God work in their knowledge and for his teacher to be capable to teach them.

Anyway that is part of what I live in the day by day here in Familia Feliz, and I enjoy every day that I am in here, I hope that you guys can be here some day to see hoe awesome it is to live like this.

God Bless You All Brothers

¿Who am i?

Well… let me tell you this, I AM NOBODY, I am an awful person, selfish person, full of weakness and willing to do all kind of miserable things.

Now if you want to know who is the NOBODY that with Jesus became one of the privilege sons of God, that is another story. My name is George Vergel and serving as a missionary is my passion, I love little kids, I love preaching and evangelism, those are my to principal passions in the Mission, right now I am living in USA, Michigan, at Ionia. I had the privilege in Bolivia to be one of the volunteers missionaries that help in the orphanage call Familia Feliz (Happy Family). I am Colombian, born in august 4, in 1987, right now I am 22. And I don’t think you are really interesting in know a lot more about me, so let me resume this a lot, I want to be a volunteer missionary for all my life.

Before coming to this kind of life I was the kind of guy that parents use to tell to their sons, get away from that guy is such as a bad influence for you, that is just for you people to know that if you let Jesus work in your life he can do a lot, just let him take the control of your life.

Well and for other people this is my definition, a crazy guy that is wasting his life, that is really dumb because is not earning money, because im not working for my tomorrow, so you can take the definition of myself that you like more.

Right now i am studying at SMAT(School Of Missionary Aviation Technology), The way how i got here was completely Godly because i dont have any money, the visa was really hard for me to get, almost impossible, but here i am, you can read some of the stories that i have to tell about how God have been so great and mercifull in my life.

Well i hope that you guys can keep in touch.

God Bless You.

¿What is to be a Volunteer Missionary?

I have go to different churches and there is always the same question, ¿What is to be a Volunteer Missionary?, well to be a Volunteer first at all is to do something just because your willing to do it, because you want to do it, the desire is in your heart, nobody need to ask you to do it or to convince you to do it because you are convince already, so you do it as a Volunteer, something that you will enjoy just doing it without been expecting some regard. In a few words to be a Volunteer is to be doing your passion.

Now that is to be a Volunteer, well  now to be a missionary is to be interesting in the mission, in the order that Jesus Christ gave to all of those who want to follow him, the Great Commission, to go and share the message, to work day by day for the souls just as Jesus Did, to be a CHRISTIAN, that word that is really common for a lot of people today,  but to be a Christian is to live like Jesus live when he was here in the world, living for the winning souls purpose, it doesn’t matters where you are, it doesn’t matters what you work in, or how you are, you can be a real Christian everywhere, you just have to live with the winning souls goal every time in your mind, but we cannot do that for ourselves, because our bad nature, we need God to change our mind and put Christ mind in us, and then he will do it, he just need you to aloud him to do it. So everybody can be a Missionary.

Now, to be a Volunteer Missionary is when MISSION is your passion, when there is nothing else that can fill you and make you feel satisfy, with joy and happiness, when you sometimes wonder if you could live other kind of life and you always find out that is just impossible to you to be living other kind of life and be happy. That is for me to be a Volunteer Missionary.

And then when you are that you just do it because you like it, because you know that if you work for God there is nothing else to worry about, because you don’t care anymore about how many things are you going to buy, or what clothes you are going to wear, you just know that as much as you keep living that lifestyle, as was with Jesus you will never be lack of anything, whatever you need will be supply for God, your day by days needs, and then you discover a new kind of relationship with God depending on him every second in your life.

But if u want something shorter is like a to sits bicycle, you go in the back, and you can just pedal, Jesus goes in the front, even if you want to go to the left it doesn’t matters, if Jesus want you to go to the right you will go because you don’t have the control of the bicycle.

So I pray that all of you want to be Volunteers Missionaries wherever you are at.

God Bless You All.

I want to get involve. ¿How?

  1. Coming to the mission field.

You can come to the mission field, it doesn’t need to be here in the Jungle or with kids, there is lots of different projects, just tell us what would you like to do and we will try to fit you in the project where you can help more. Sent your application to cristiana_juventud@hotmail.com.

Check the post "¿What is to be a Volunteer Missionary?"

2. Praying for us.

Please pray every day for us, ask your church members to pray for us, we are in the war against Satan, all of us, but we are front liners, front liners always get harder attacks, so we need a harder defense, our best defense is the trusting day by day in God and holding every day his hand, so please pray for our projects, chose a specific one and have it in your prayers, Pray for their missionaries, their finances, the faith of all the staff, remember, lots of prayer lots of power, little prayer little power.

3. Helping Financially(Donations).

This is a very important part. God will provide for us anyway, he could put a lot of money in our pockets every day, but he prefer use us as his steward. Because he knows that helping others is good for ourselves. So whether if you collaborate or not God will provide for us. This is about personal relationship with God. So anyway, contact the administrators and ask them how you can help them. If you want to help a specific volunteer, contact him or her and ask how you can help. Volunteer missionaries don’t receive money from the projects where they are helping at, so they depend on God for their day by day needs. You get a change to play a role by helping financially.
